Prolific science instruction
The Kiel Science Outreach Campus (KiSOC) is a joint project of the IPN, Kiel University, and 13 national and international partners.
Purpose of the Kiel Science Outreach Campus (KiSOC) is to study different ways of presenting science to potential young academics and society’s various target groups, and to examine the method’s concepts and effects.
KiSOC’s main research focus is to develop methods to convey the significance and the attainments of science in a comprehensive and inspiring way.
The long standing close cooperation between Kiel University (CAU) and the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN) provides an excellent foundation for the development and implementation of the KiSOC’s research goals. In addition to the well-established network between researchers in natural science and the science of education at our Kiel location numerous national and international partners add to the range of communication formats and offer complementing research expertise. As part of the project we will create a public resource platform to make study results easily accessible for people who are working in the field of science communications.
Leibniz Science Campi are designed to provide Leibniz Institutes and universities the opportunity for subject specific collaboration by means of an equal, complementing, regional partnership.
The KiSOC is funded by the Leibniz Association, the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN), Kiel University (CAU), and the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Social Affairs (MSGWG) for the time of four years.
